When Should You Reapply for a Job?

A role can be reposted, reopened, or replaced by a new requisition. Check what changed before sending the same application again.

Compare the underlying opening

Check the employer's current careers page, requisition ID if available, team, location, and responsibilities. A refreshed board date alone does not prove the employer started a new search. Compare it with the application and confirmation you already saved.

Look for a meaningful change

A new requisition, changed requirements, or stronger evidence in your experience can make a new application useful. If the same employer portal still shows your prior submission as active, follow its instructions before creating a duplicate. Do not change answers merely to get past a repeat-application block.

Submit with a clear record

If you decide to reapply, tailor the current materials to the current role, submit through the official path, and note how this opening differs from the last one. If the posting is closed or uncertain, invest your time in other active roles instead.
