Job search
How Many Jobs Should You Apply To?
Set a weekly target you can keep up with. Leave time to choose suitable jobs, prepare good applications, and follow up.
Start with your available time
Count the hours you can spend on finding roles, adapting your materials, applying, networking, and interview preparation. If forms are consuming the whole week, simplify repeated work before increasing your target.
Measure more than submissions
Track applications, responses, interviews, and roles you declined. A low response rate can mean your target roles, resume, geography, or application timing need attention. A raw submission count cannot tell you which one.
Adjust in short cycles
Try a manageable pace for two weeks, review the quality and outcomes, then increase or decrease it. Keep enough capacity to answer recruiters promptly and prepare for interviews; those are part of the same search.
