What Does ‘Application Under Review’ Mean?
‘Under review’ usually indicates that an application remains in an employer's process. It does not tell you whether a recruiter has read it, how many people are ahead of you, or when a decision will come.
Status labels vary
Applicant tracking systems and employers define statuses differently. Some update them automatically; others leave them unchanged while people review candidates. Read any direct email from the employer as more specific information than a generic dashboard label.
Decide on the next action
Check the posted hiring timeline and your application date. If you have a contact and the stated timeline has passed, one short follow-up may be useful. Otherwise, continue applying to other suitable roles.
Do not overread the label
A long period under review is frustrating, but it does not prove your application was ignored or guarantee an interview. Keep the status in your tracker and respond promptly if the employer contacts you.
