Job Search Help for Career Changers
A career change works better when an employer can see a bridge from your previous work to the new role. Start with a few specific roles, identify the work you already did that overlaps, and be clear about the skills you are still building.
Find the bridge role
A customer-support lead moving toward customer success may already have onboarding, retention, and account-management evidence. A leap into a role with unrelated licensing or years of required practice needs a different path. Read actual postings before setting a broad target.
Translate, do not embellish
Use the language of the target role when it truthfully describes your work. A résumé version can foreground transferable projects and outcomes while leaving dates, employers, and responsibilities accurate.
Test the target in Search
Save roles that fit, note recurring requirements, and refine your title and location preferences. Keep unknown eligibility separate from a confirmed fit, particularly when a posting has a credential or authorization requirement.
