How to Prioritize Job Applications
When every saved job looks urgent, give each one a quick decision: apply soon, research further, or remove it. That keeps your best opportunities from being buried under easy but poor-fit applications.
Check hard constraints first
Confirm location, work arrangement, required authorization, seniority, and any compensation requirement you cannot compromise on. A familiar title is not enough if the actual job cannot work for you.
Look for evidence of fit
Identify the two or three main responsibilities and ask whether you can show relevant work for them. You do not need every preferred qualification, but you should be able to explain why your experience maps to the role.
Choose the next action
Apply to strong-fit open roles while you have the necessary information. Research an unclear employer or requirement before investing in a long form. Remove closed or clearly unsuitable roles, and save your reasoning so you do not revisit the same decision tomorrow.
