How to Prepare for a Recruiter Screen
A first recruiting conversation is a chance to establish the basic match and understand the role. Prepare a few clear examples and questions, while leaving room for a natural exchange.
Revisit the application you sent
Read the job description and the exact resume version you submitted. Prepare a short account of your recent work and why this role interests you. Have one or two examples that connect directly to the main responsibilities.
Know your practical constraints
Be ready to discuss location, work arrangement, start timing, and compensation expectations if asked. State what is settled and what you still need to learn; do not guess about a requirement that matters to you.
Ask about the process
Ask what the team needs the person to do, how the role fits the organization, and what the next steps are. Write down important details afterward, then send any promised material promptly.
