How to Prepare for a Video Interview

A video interview uses the same evidence and questions as an in-person conversation, plus a few technical checks to do in advance.

Revisit the role and your application

Read the job description and the resume version you submitted. Prepare two or three examples tied to the main responsibilities, plus questions about the work and next steps. Keep notes short enough that you can speak naturally instead of reading a script.

Test the setup

Open the meeting link early enough to check the required app or browser, camera, microphone, and display name. Choose a reasonably quiet place and a stable connection if available. Keep the interviewer's contact details handy in case the call fails.

Handle interruptions calmly

If audio breaks or you miss a question, say so and ask for it to be repeated. If the connection drops, use the contact method in the invitation to rejoin or arrange another time. Afterward, record any promised follow-up and send it promptly.
